On Sundays we tend to have Roast with potatoes and veggies, or breakfast for dinner. Today we had these for dinner. We used Very Vanilla Soy Milk. They left kind of a funny taste, so I would lesson the baking soda a little. Also, I didn't cook them covered so that could have been the reason they were rubbery...I would probably add sugar to them too as the aren't very sweet. If my family would eat them with nuts in them I would add nuts to them. If I make them again, I will add some sugar and COVER them when I cook them.
On another note. She was given a Bagel at church today. She loves bagels so started eating. I caught her after the first bite. I got yelled at for not telling the people giving her food. I didn't know they were giving her food, so I didn't think about it. I told them we just found out the past week. It wasn't pleasant...

Emotional Reactions
I realized on Saturday when we were walking through an Amusement Park and Korde asked if she could have something and didn't throw a huge fit about it that we were past the anger stage. When she was first realizing the length that she would have to go to to rid milk from her diet she would get REALLY mad...scream, stomp, slam the door, kick her plastic drawers out of her dresser...it was not fun, but I wasn't going to tell her to calm down, as she's the most calm tempered child I have. As I was thinking more on this in the park, it hit me that because she is old enough to understand the ramifications especially, she was going to have to "morn" for lack of a better word, what she had lost. Today she asked if she could have something else or not and I told her no, and she just said, "That's what I thought." Afterwords she went back to her business...

Food so far
Anything marked VEGAN will not contain anything with Animal bi-products in it and is safe for Korde to eat, if and only if you have the same allergies as she does will this be the case for you or yours.
[However, it also takes out all the meat...gah...that gets a bit old to me...if you have a different opinion that is fine, but this is my blog :) My opinion is subject to change as we go through this, but right now, I am still a steak and potatoes girl at heart :)]
Tofutti makes a line of dairy free products that replaces things like sour cream and cream cheese, ice cream. Some of their stuff contains eggs though, so double check the cookies and instant meals.
Trader Joe's has soy milk, rice milk, soy yogurt, frozen desserts, cheese, cereal. I know I am missing TONS, but their website and stores all are supposed to have a VEGAN list, so that is REALLY helpful.
There are TONS of Vegan blogs. I like VeganYumYum as the pictures of her food make it look TO. DIE. FOR!
Korde prefers rice milk over soy milk and she likes the peach soy yogurt, not the raspberry.
Things that surprised me that contain milk*: Special K, Corn Flakes, seasoned bread crumbs, Spaghetti O's, some Italian Dressings, frozen meatballs, frosting, some cake mixes.
*I realize some of these should not have been a surprise.
PS I am not sure why my websites aren't actual links...sorry...I'm working on it.

The Title??
Our 7 year old daughter was just diagnosed with milk and egg white allergies. This has caused an up roar in our eating habits, as everything, almost, has milk in it. I am going to attempt to keep this up with foods we find, recipes we like or don't like, titled as such, and general tips for these, like the cake I made last night that totally flopped, and other places in Eastern PA where to find things that will help. If you have a finding, tip, recipe or other helpful hint, let me know~
